Grove School Caretakers House

Mossvale were awarded this contract based on their performance and the superior quality of a £485,000 two phase main school extension / refurbishment  to Grove School which was completed on behalf of the Client in October 2012.

This project involved the refurbishment and remodelling of a Grade II Listed building, formerly the residence of the school caretaker.

The scope of works included internal remodelling and redecoration to create a new reception area and 4 offices for the school administration team.  Many of the original features were retained such as ornate cornices, woodwork and the ceramic entrance hall flooring was restored.  Restoration to the external stonework along with the rebuilding of the original chimney stack was also completed.

In addition to the above a new glazed canopy was erected to the rear of the building linking the Caretakers House with the main school building.  As an 'add on' we were also asked to upgrade the heating system in the main school and installed £50,000 of low energy LED lighting.

Although the Caretakers House was not occupied, the construction works were undertaken in close proximity to the main school therefore a strict traffic management plan was adhered to, with constant communication with School staff, parents and pupils in order for the school to function normally, with health and safety being of paramount importance.
