Cotswold Distillery

The Cotswold Distillery is situated in a 5-acre rural setting in Phillip's Field just outside one of the Cotswolds’ prettiest and least-spoiled villages.  It will be the only distillery South of Scotland, when its grand opening is held  in June 2014.

Mossvale were responsible for the 'fast-track' renovation of two redundant 14 year old semi agricultural buildings.  Even though neither are listed, constant communication with the Planners and Client regarding the materials used in the construction process was required, to ensure they complemented the surrounding buildings and the environment.

The first building consisted of 2 offices on the first floor and a gallery landing looking down onto the entrance of the Visitors Centre / Sampling Room.  All of the existing oak panelling, flooring, doors etc., were retained for authenticity.  The second building was the distillery itself, housing the big copper vats to ferment the whisky.  A mezzanine open grated floor observation deck was also installed throughout the building.

In addition to this externally, the construction of a new roadway and car parking facilities to provide additional access for visitors and deliveries.  The works were located in an environmentally sensitive location and a mix of gravelled areas, tarmac and block paving were used to construct suitable surfaces without increasing drainage 'run off'.
