Electrical Programme

Working for three of the partners on the Birmingham Construction Partnership – Wates, Thomas Vale & G F Tomlinson, Mossvale were responsible for carrying out the majority of the works on the Electrical Programme to bring Birmingham City Council’s housing stock up to acceptable levels of decency in line with the Government objectives.

The services provided were three fold:

Domestic Periodic Inspections

Preparation of a Repair Programme by initial inspection of the properties to ascertain the nature of the repair required.  1300 properties were covered, with all Code 1 faults being repaired on the day along with other inspections such as water immersion heater safety checks.

Domestic Remedial Repairs

1750 properties were surveyed and if periodic inspections where available, these were used to build a schedule of works.  Repairs ranged from replacing sockets and switches to replacement of a circuit and upgrade of the property consumer unit to include RCD and RCBO devices.  All installations were fully inspected on completion using NICEIC documents, which were returned to the client.

Domestic Rewires

195 properties received total rewires.  The properties varied from one-bedroom flats to 5 bedroom houses.  They all received the latest Birmingham City Council specification encompassing 17th Edition (BS7672 2008 and 2011).  Also included in the rewire were the additions of smoke detectors to LD2 Grade D.  On completion all installations are fully inspected using NICEIC documentation, with all appropriate certifications returned to the client.

“G F Tomlinson Birmingham Ltd sub-contracted the delivery of the full Electrical Programme to Mossvale from 2009 – 2012.  The programme included Testing, Remedial Works and Re-wires and during this time they provided BCC with an excellent service in the areas of the Standard of Works submitted, Technical Reporting, Customer Satisfaction and exceeding agreed performance figures.

Their work has been a major factor in the success of the Electrical Programme in the Birmingham Construction Partnership and I can confidently recommend Mossvale as a solid and reliable contractor and experts in their field”.
